Kings Bay
Kings Bay Football was incorporated in 1967. Since we began football at Kings Bay, one or more of our teams have competed for a league championship each year. Our coaching staff is experienced and dedicated to teaching our youths the fundamentals of football in a disciplined and cordial manner.
Our facilities include a natural turf field(one of the best in the city), bleacher seats for fans, lights for night games, a press box, newly renovated bathrooms and a refreshment stand.
We have 4 traveling teams ranging from 7 to 14 years old. We provide our kids with transportation to and from our games. We also provide our players with equipment and uniforms that are well maintained and updated.
Our 13-14 year old travel team has just won back to back city championships (2005,2006 2007) and our pee wee (11-12) team won the city championship (2006 & 2008) and our 9-10 year olds won in 2008.
Kings Bay is now in its 10th year of our in-house programs. Ages range from 6 to 13 with all games played at Kings Bay field. Our in-house is an instructional program with all the boys learning the fundamentals of playing football in a fun, friendly, competitive environment.
The philosophy and goal of the Lynvets is to give children the opportunity to learn and play organized tackle football while building their character to set them on the right path for life. There are over 350 children and more than 50 Coaches and that participate in the program each year. The Coaches volunteer.
The motto of the program is "Education through Athletics".
While the league is somewhat competitive, winning is not the primary objective of the organization. The primary objective is to give children the opportunity to learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, persistence and sportsmanship. The children that graduate from our program tend to be better prepared for High School life. They have the opportunity to learn values and build friendships that go beyond the football field. We have "travel" teams for players ages 13-16. Contact Frank Masella, League Commissioner, at 718- 845-0005.
Queens Falcons
The Forest Hills Football League, also known as the Queens Falcons, has been in existence since 1957. We are a not-for-profit, IRS section 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to the instruction of young people in the sport of football. Through the past forty-five years our program has developed from a small intramural town league to a five team, traveling program for approximately 200 children between the ages of 7 and 19 years old. Our season begins with registration in May and workouts begin shortly thereafter with a 10 game season starting in late September and ending in December. We end each football year with an Awards Breakfast in January. Each year we invite guest speakers to attend this ceremony and talk about the importance of education, family, community and the role that football can play in each. In past years we have had guest speakers such as Congressman/Senator - Charles Schumer, former City Controller - Alan Hevisi, Parks Commissioner - Henry Sterns and State Congresswoman – Melinda Katz. In addition, we always invite coaches from regional high schools, preparatory schools and colleges to speak.
The mission of our program is to provide the youth in New York City an opportunity to develop talents and skills they will use today and later on in life both on and off the field. It is our belief that team sports are a positive way to foster racial harmony, community integration, and infuse the ideals of placing the team's goal in front of the individual's goal. Me first attitudes are discarded and replaced by an ethic of teamwork and a firm commitment to positive group interaction through individual character development. It is our belief that team sports generally and football specifically offers individuals the chance to build character, self esteem and team values by increasing a child's desire to strive for individual excellence while contributing to the team as a whole.
Our philosophy is that football is an allegory for life. We feel that learning to overcome the adversity one faces on the football field emotionally prepares an individual for the adversity he may one day face later on in life. We, as coaches and mentors, feel that it is incumbent upon us to help children grow into well-rounded young adults as well as coach football.
Our football program is a favorable asset to the community. Through love and dedication to the children of our community our coaches lead the players through good example and stress education, physical conditioning and a substance free body. Our Football program provides a place for children to learn, build new friendships and grow as individuals physically, intellectually and emotionally.
